WWMD
Based in Arlington, Texas, each month Psalm 40 Ministries offers an exclusive workshop limited to 7 participants. This is for serious interpreters who find themselves working on a song and wondering, "what would Mark do?"
Signed Music Workshop
Taught by Mark and Melanie MitchumObjective: To encourage interpreters to become more creative in interpreting music in a church setting.
Participants: Anyone is welcome, but it is best for participants to be comfortable understanding and using American Sign Language.
This workshop focuses on interpreting religious music. Topics will be covered such as expression, rhythm, and changing English into ASL. Special attention will be given to interpreting common phrases found in hymns and choruses.
It is taught with a lot of humor and fun. Mark will be doing songs as demonstrations. Participants will have some "hands-on" activities to apply what they have learned. They will get the opportunity to see interpreted music from a hearing and deaf perspective.
This workshop can be offered for RID CEUs with the approval and cooperation of an RID approved sponsor. Approved sponsors are listed at http://www.rid.org/. Contact a sponsor for details.
This workshop is taught in Sim-Com. Deaf people are welcomed with the understanding that this is catered for the interpreters.
WWMD Workshop
Taught by Mark and Melanie MitchumDo you ever look at a song and wonder "What would Mark do?" (WWMD)
Well, now's your chance to find out. This is how it works:
In June 2003, we began offering a weekend workshop in Arlington, Texas once or twice a month. Each workshop is limited to 7 people, so that we will have time to devote to each person. This is on a first come, first serve basis. It will be an intense time of learning and practicing how to gloss songs from English to ASL.
Each participant will bring a song that they would like to have glossed. By the end of the workshop, each person will leave with 7 songs glossed and the techniques it took to gloss each one.
We now only offer this workshop on an "as requested" basis. If you have a group you would like to bring to us for this workshop, please contact me and we will decide on a date and proceed from there.

You can email the song lyrics to us and send us the song on a CD or as a file through email. We will work on the song and send the instructions and the performance to you through email, using our webcam. Please contact us if you are interested in doing this. We will need to make sure our schedule permits us to work on your song in an adequate amount of time.
Each song costs $75.00.
